The SonicsPsycho - The Sonics

The killer rocks on.

Recorded-in-an- abattoir tale of love gone bad as told in a Barry Bulsara-sized slash-em-up scream by singer Gerry Roslie.

I was going to say that this sounds like 'Little Richard on speed' but it's a sickeningly lazy critical conceit to state that everything sounds like something else (Tammy Wynette, The Sex Pistols, Hanson) 'on' (jacked-up, strung-out, hopped-up) something (acid, speed, PCP)... so I won't.

The Count Five Psychotic Reaction - The Count Five

More fuzzy, paranoid garage fun from the only band with an Irish lead singer that wouldn't make me choke with rage on my beef and Guiness pie (with jacket fries 'to share') if they were played over the sound system at my local Celtic pub.

Two songs with similar titles: another weapon the the arsenal of the local radio DJ... Along with the accumulator quiz, the half-empty promise of no rap, less chat and the vaguely sexist small-talk with the girl from AA Roadwatch.

Manifesto & Book News

If it's ever been on K-Tel or Ronco, it's in. If it features hand claps, cow bells, syrupy orchestration, walls of sound, wrecking crews, sha-la-las, toothy teen idols, candy-based metaphors for carnal acts or lyrics about hugging, squeezing and rocking all night long, it's in.

That's amazing. My favourite film is Grease too!
