How Much I Lied - Gram Parsons
Rural rock from the man who brought
country music to the attention of the West Coast free-love counterculture community in the sixties.
Classic Country was made by the
white working classes for the white working classes and celebrated the lives of
working class heros (farmers, factory workers, single mothers), but the critical community (largely white and middle class) has given the genre a hard time over the years and in 2003 genuine working class heros are few and far between.
Who would a modern Honky Tonk hero be? Dave, the IT man at work with the
mobile phone clipped to his belt and the Fruit of the Loom t-shirt? Or maybe Pikey Tony down the pub who has seen all the latest cinema releases
"on pirate, three months ago"?
