Contact High - Ike & Tina Turner

Ike Turner invented rock 'n' roll with Jackie Brenston's Delta Cats and Rocket 88 before adding Nutbush girl Anne Mae Bullock to his revue show.

Anne Mae became Tina and then Ike's wife. Ike used to slap Tina around for not making him his tea. Tina had enough of Ike 'talking trash' so left him to go Beyond the Thunderdome (a post-apocalyptic feature film from a pre-Jesus freak Mel Gibson where everyone dresses like homosexual from 1980s Dusseldorf).

Tina is now in semi-retirement, living off the royalties earned from the bi-weekly airing of Simply the Best over the tannoy before Plymouth Argyle home games.

Feast Of The Mau Mau - Screamin' Jay Hawkins

Beware of the voodoo, the juju, the jinx, the hex, the whammy... the fake Record Breakers chain letter.

Jalacy "Screamin' Jay" Hawkins' shock rock stage show featured on-stage snakes and fireworks, and a cigarette-smoking skull named "Henry".

Despite the voodoo theme of much of his work, Screamin' Jay wasn't a genuine practitioner of the voodoo faith.

He could, however, given some arrowroot, a dash of lady's mantle, balm of gilead, blood root, tea tree oil, aloe and the blood from a white bat, mix you up a refreshing, exfoliationg facial scrub.
